April 2009

  • Nokia has launched a beta version of its Point & Find service. It lets you access information and services about objects simply by pointing your phone at them. The beta version focuses solely on movies, but Nokia is hoping to expand the service.

Point & Find uses real-time image processing and recognition technology to direct you to digital content and services. When you point your phone at a movie poster, Nokia Point & Find uses its camera, internet connectivity and GPS positioning to evaluate it. It searches through a database of virtually tagged items to identify the object, and then returns a set of links to associated content.
