PhoneAbility tries actively to ensure awareness of global developments and to influence direction and activity both in the UK and internationally.

To achieve this we:

  • liaise with stakeholders to identify their needs in terms of developing and implementing accessible ICT products and services
  • raise trust and confidence as to how ICT can benefit the whole community, not just people with disabilities
  • organise regular Seminars, Workshops and Discussion Groups on topics of interest to stakeholders
  • scrutinise EU and UK legislative and regulatory proposals that affect stakeholder business; provide commentary on draft legislation and coordinate submissions as part of the consultative process
  • collaborate with EU research projects in this field and stimulate businesses, research institutions and individual experts to become involved
  • provide access to its website, Newsletter and key publications that raise awareness of the issues for disabled people associated with new/developing technologies
